about us

Founded in 1921 through the vision of Giulia Allario in Scagliotti, André Maurice began as a small artisanal knitwear workshop in the hills of Monferrato. In post-war Italy, Giulia’s determination turned a time of hardship into an act of courage and entrepreneurship. From that home-based atelier, a legacy was born, one that has been passed down through four generations, evolving into an international brand where heritage and innovation coexist in perfect balance.
The connection to its homeland remains a cornerstone of André Maurice’s identity. Monferrato, now recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, has always been both an inspiration and the guardian of the craftsmanship that made André Maurice knitwear a symbol of Italian excellence.
A Heritage in Motion
From silk curtains crafted for the Vatican in 1925, to the industrial expansion led by Luigi Scagliotti in the 1960s, to Vogue campaigns and global growth from the 1980s onward, each milestone has strengthened the brand’s ability to innovate without ever compromising its identity.
Under the leadership of the fourth generation, Andrea Scagliotti, André Maurice has embraced a truly global vision: opening new markets across Europe and Asia, creating André Maurice Atelier, establishing a branch in Switzerland, and launching five flagship stores in South Korea, culminating in a recent joint venture in China. A century-long story, still looking forward.
Made in Italy
For André Maurice, Made in Italy is more than a label, it’s a philosophy. Every stage of production, from design to the finished garment, takes place at the brand’s historic headquarters in Casale Monferrato. This fully integrated supply chain ensures absolute control over quality, authenticity, and creative integrity.
Research and raw material selection are at the heart of this process. The brand sources the world’s finest yarns directly from their regions of origin, including the precious cashmere of Hircus goats from Inner Mongolia. These ultra-fine fibers, gathered through traditional spring combing, are transformed by expert Italian artisans into timeless knitwear that combines comfort, elegance, and durability.
The Future
More than a hundred years after its founding, André Maurice continues to look ahead with the same determination that defined its beginnings. Today’s goals include achieving full energy efficiency, developing an internal training academy, and strengthening international growth.
Through André Maurice Atelier, the brand reinterprets its heritage with modern, essential collections designed for a global audience: individuals who are conscious, cultured, and cosmopolitan, with an eye for style and authenticity.
The past represents the basis on which to build the future: a global vision that has its roots in Italian know-how that is unique in the world.
